Stone Mountain Park 7-12-08

Last weekend was another fun weekend. But, it was SO DANG HUMID!!! At least in AZ when you go in the shade you get some releif. There was no releif here. We were sweating like crazy. IT was only 94 but the humidity was something like 62%. Dang! But we didn't let that stop our fun. We went to Stone Mountain Park down by Atlanta in the city of Stone Mountain. There was so much to do we didn't get to do it all but we got a year pass so we can go back whenever. We went on a train ride around the Big Stone Mountain. It is literally a big rock! It is 583 acres of Granite. IT has a carving on the side of the mountain of 3 Southern Heroes of the Civil War, Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee and General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson (Sorry you can't see it very well in the pic.) It is 90 feet by 190 feet. IT's a cool carving. Then we went to a 4-D movie called Tall Tales. You know how southern folks love to tell stories. :o) Is my family from the South? Then we went on a Bus/Boat tour around the park. Called Ride the Ducks. It is a bus on land and then they drive right into the water and it becomes a boat. It freaked the kids out a little to drive into the water. They used these in WWII and to help victims from Hurricane Katrina. Tim just clarified they are WWII Amphibious Boats. Pretty cool! Then Tim and Tyler and Kenna did something called a Sky Hike. It is an obsticle course in the air. There are 3 levels. Easy is 12 feet High, Medium is 24 feet High and Hard is 36 feet High. SCARY! Tyler and Kenna were so BRAVE! Katrina and I stayed safely on the ground and went down a slide over and over. Then it was too dark to do anymore. The closed everything and had a Firework Laser Show. It was really neat. We are excited to go back and do more at the park.

Also, we drove by the house. We don't have keys yet so we couldn't go inside plus I think someone still lives there. We just took pictures from the street. Then we drove by Tyler and Kenna's school. HOLY COW!!! 20 min to get to the school. That is insane!!! Every house we looked at had a school 2 min away. Even the house we were going to get 2 miles from the Petersons had two different schools 5 min away. So we didn't worry about checking for schools anymore and low and behold! This one is 20 min away in a different city!!! Crazy! Luckily they do have busses and they are building a new school just inside of our neighborhood that will be done for the next school year in August. We drove over part of the Chattahoochee River. It was so foggy you couldn't see the water. Also, they have a Japaneese vine growing here. They imported it years ago to thicken their forest. Now they can't get rid of it. They don't want it anymore and they cant get rid of it. It grows a foot a day. Some places they are letting it still grow. We drove by a place so I had Tim turn around so I could take a picture of it. It is cool looking. Anyway, enjoy the pics below. Press F5 to refresh...

Ugh, that humidity sounds awful. I think I'll be grateful today for our dry heat. But Stone Mountain Park sounds awesome! If we ever make it out to visit, you'll have to take us there.

You guys have been having so much fun lately, it does sound like you're on vacation. Oh, and your house is beautiful. Can't wait to see more of it!

I hear ya on the humidity. I can't wear any make-up in Texas because I feel like it just melts. =( Anyway, we'll definitely let you know if we end up going that way next summer!
